What is SEER?

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio or SEER measures your air conditioning system’s energy efficiency by calculating the cooling output divided by the amount of electric energy input. This measurement applies to a normal cooling season. The higher the SEER rating, the greater the energy efficiency of your air conditioning system. The Department of Energy suggests when replacing a central air conditioning unit to look for a SEER of at least 15.
