Police - Obtaining Reports / Property

  • Reports are available from the Rantoul Police Department through our records office. A written request is required to fulfill report requests in an efficient manner. An online request form is available or forms may be picked up at the Rantoul Police Department. These requests are then submitted to the records office where a thorough search of our records in conducted. The information is then dispersed based on the guidelines for law enforcement of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).   • Evidence seized in a misdemeanor criminal case is held until the disposition of the case. Evidence seized in a felony criminal case is generally held until 30 days after the disposition of the case. On certain crimes property cannot be released without court order or approval from the State Attorney’s Office. Found property can generally be released immediately.
