Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a state statute (5 ILCS 140) that provides for a straight-forward, easy-to-use method for the public to gain access to government records. The Illinois Freedom of Information Act can be found at the Illinois Attorney General website. This website is a good source of information about the Freedom of Information Act.

Police Department Requests

All requests for police department records under the Freedom of Infomation Act (FOIA) should use the Rantoul Police Department FOIA Request Form. Once completed the forms can be dropped off or mailed to the Rantoul Police Department:

Accident Reports

The Rantoul Police Department has partnered with buycrash.com to collect and distribute any accident report handled by the police department.  If you or someone on your behalf is requesting a copy of an accident report please click here to be directed to buycrash.com.  There is a charge on the website for accident reports.

Fees

Fees are based on Illinois State Statues.

Copies from microfilm	$1.00 per page
Paper documents	The first 50 pages of any request are free. Additional pages are $0.15 per page.
