Committee Details

The Human Relations Committee is responsible for the promotion of equal rights and opportunities within the Village where differences or problems arise, to foster a spirit of community and mutual trust. The committee receives, records, and investigates complaints charging discriminatory housing, public accommodation, or lending practices within the Village of Rantoul.

The Committee develops and makes recommendations to the Village President and Board of Trustees regarding programs aimed at addressing discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, cultural background, sex, sexual orientation, age disability, or other such factors, as well as education and public awareness programs concerning human rights and equal opportunities issues within the community.

From time to time, but not less than once a year, the Committee will make a written report to the President and Board of Trustees concerning their activities.

Committee Meetings

The Human Relations Committee meetings are scheduled as needed, and they are held at the Village of Rantoul Municipal Building in the Louis B. Schelling Memorial Board Room located at 333 S. Tanner Street, Rantoul, IL 61866.

Committee Members

The Committee is composed of seven members, who reside within the Village of Rantoul. The Mayor appoints the members, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees. Each member serves a four-year term.
